I am new to audio game. I already have M50X as my daily driver. Does buying koss porta pro makes any significant changes in sound quality. I know koss porta pro is cheap headphone and is semi open back and leaks sound and all. But i have budget of $40 for a headphone so i was looking into buying koss porta pro with yaxi pad.
That being said, the cheap Koss headphones do have some issues, which are acceptable for the price, but which stop them from being S-tier, namely the poor bass extension and the strange behavior at 4-5 kHz which depends on the pads. I modified my Porta Pros many years ago and use HD25 velour pads on them. I don't have any of the problems you mention in the mid range. Bass can still be a little muddy. I very much prefer the tonality and bass of the CAL!, so I rarely use my Porta Pros at home. They are for use on the go only.
